About the Item
Vintage Scale Model of a Fully Fitted Whale Boat, circa 1950s, a hand crafted wooden model of a carvel hulled whale boat having a smooth strake edge to edge construction, fully fitted with mast and spar, 5 oars, steering sweep, tiller, 2 paddles, 4 harpoons, 2 lances, waif, spade, 2 line tubs, boat hook, firkins, etc, in white hull paint with black sheer strake, grey gunwale, and blue interior and fore and aft decking; mounted on an ebonized stand.
The model remains in very good condition. The gallows holding the bow chock has been re-adhered to the gunwale. A harpoon has come loose from its wooden pole, and at least one piece, a lance, has become bent with age.
