Antique English marine chronometer J. Mc Cabe No. 280 - 8 days charge 19th century

About the Item

Antique English marine chronometer with mahogany outer case and brass elements. The wooden case has a double opening, one to access the chronometer movement and the second, top, with glass for reading the dial only. Inside, gilt brass chronometer case joined to wooden case by brass gimbal. Silver-plated and engraved brass circular dial with hours in Roman numerals, power reserve display at XII "up - wind," seconds dial at VI. Golden hands. Brass movement, with chain "fusée" and special chronometer balance. 8-day charge by key. Signed on the dial and movement "James Mc Cabe Royal Exchange London No. 280." Epoch first half of the 19th century. Circa 1820. Wooden case dimensions: 19 H x 18 D x 18 L cm Dial diameter: 12 cm.
