About the Item

Ohio, circa 1910. Hand-carved and decorated. These magnificent folk art interior doors are single panel, solid core and painted white on the reverse sides. Hardware has been added; Bennington Potters ceramic knobs seemed fitting with the motifs. The artist likely spent years creating these one-of-a-kind doors. At the center of each door is a powerful leopard’s head and all around are classic cherry blossoms, oak leaves acorns and butterflies. The imagery is both carved and burned into the wood with a somewhat uniform tinting of stain and occasional polychrome detailing. These are a statement. Overall in fine antique condition and functional as doors or to display as art.
