A fine pastel on paper of a female nude reclining with a book on a Victorian sofa by Albert Handell (1937-). Signed and dated in red lower right, Handell, 71. A very cozy theme with a raking artist's angled perspective. The work on paper has not been viewed out of the frame. Good overall condition with no visible rips, tears or foxing. The framing treatment consists of a simple dark wood molding, fillet with the work on paper under glass. The approximate overall dimensions with the frame are 33.75" wide x 1.5" deep x 25.75" high. The approximate sight dimensions are 27.5" wide x 19.75 high. AskArt bio: Coming to Santa Fe from Brooklyn in 1985, he was taken with the light and the colors of the Southwest landscape. He loves to paint sky, adobe structures, and trees. He also travels throughout the country giving workshops. His heritage is Russian Jewish and Polish. Trained in New York City and Paris, Albert attended the Art Students League for three and a half years, and his most influential teacher was Frank Mason. In style, he followed in the footsteps of artists he most admired--Edouard Vuillard and Joaquin Sorolla. His studio is a renovated two-car garage...
