About the Item
Large abstract piece entitled man and paper
Jorge Flores has earned several national and international awards and has exhibited in galleries around the world. His paintings can be found in government buildings in Mexico and in several museums, including the Modern Art Museum in Dallas, Texas. His current works have been exhibited with great success recently at the Devon-Shire Galleries in San Diego, California.
Born in Durango, Mexico in 1934, Flores earned a Master's Degree in the Arts from the National Institute of Arts in Mexico City. In 1966 he joined David Alfaros Siqueiros as chief artist of his atelier, devoting seven years to the painting of the largest mural in the world (The Polyforum) located in the Hotel de Mexico in Mexico City.
Jorge Flores was commissioned by Houston Imaging Center to create a series of original drawings expressing his feelings about how humanity relates to nature and the atom.
