Set of Three 19th Century West Indies Original Watercolors

About the Item

These original watercolors, shown here, are presumed to have been done in the West Indies in the late 18th or early 19th century. Purchased from the estate of a collector from Kensington, England, these striking watercolors depict three scenes of a newly Colonial Central America and Caribbean. There is no indication of the creator other than a pencil-marked "C" in the bottom right of one of the paintings. Kept in exquisite condition, these paintings have maintained their vibrant and delicate drawings with very little fading or damage. These paintings work best as a set, telling a story of Indigenous peoples from a Colonial perspective. Rich with color and newly framed, this set is an interesting remnant of the Colonial Era.
