Rare folk art textile made in Vermont by an unusually creative yet anonymous quilt maker. A "Rising Sun" in the center of this elaborately quilted spread sends out elongated rays to intermingle with eight-pointed stars and four quarter-moons. A "Geese-in-Flight" border speeds around three sides of the quilt, with the fourth side left plain for the head of the bed, a 19th-Century custom. Illustrated "Quilts in America", Orlofsky, McGraw-Hill, New York, 1974. Figure 176.
