Highly Pieced Center Medallion Quilt

This pieced center Medallion quilt is an extraordinary sampler of fabrics and design. Each frame is filled with a huge selection of fabrics, most of which are printed. A variety of triangle shapes makes for variation but with consistency. The center 16 patch block draws the eye to a pattern not seen elsewhere in the quilt. The red band is especially effective in emphasizing the structure of the multiple frames. Measurements are 78" x 89"; Pennsylvania origin; circa1870s.
