Mariner's Compass Quilt with Swag and Bow Border

About the Item

Elegant version of the always desirable Mariner's Compass quilt pattern. It is an extremely difficult pattern to execute with the numerous fine points and this is particularly well done. The circles around the compasses are an unusual variation and they create a wonderful secondary pattern, effectively carrying the eye throughout the quilt. The curves of the swag border cleverly continue the lines of the circles. It is masterfully done in every way. Measurements are 94" x 110'. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1850.
