Ohio Amish Double Wedding Ring Quilt

About the Item
Double wedding ring was one of the most popular patterns of the 1920's and 30's. Almost always, it was done with pastel colors on a white ground.
The Midwest Amish adapted this pattern to their own color sense, often choosing a black ground. The black background incorporated in this quilt is a cotton sateen. This fine example, most likely from Ohio, was done entirely of solid color cottons. The quilting in the border is done with a cable pattern and a variety of geometric patterns were used within the quilt. The quilt is in excellent, probably unwashed condition. Measurements ate 74" x 86". Both the pattern and choice of colors make for a very vibrant pattern.
