You see the earthy mountains in the backdrop, and you can see the grassy valleys freckled in amongst the canyon-like terrain. This is where this piece takes me, to the rough and rugged nomadic scenes this piece originated. Goat hair as the foundation, with organic sheep wool as the pile - natural dyes soak and bake into the wool before it's spun used to weave. Animals decorate and guard the motifs, blues hues fill this piece to honor Mother Natures gift, water; hard geometric lines represent the powerful mountains, flowers represent the delicacy of nature's soul, growing trees represent life and growth, and the human figure represents the people themselves... this piece is a story-telling snapshot of her life.
