Vintage Old Manastir Kilim Central Anatolian Rug Natural Turkish Carpet

About the Item

This is an old kilim from Manastir, in Central Anatolia. At first glance, it gives a completely different impression from other Central Anatolian kilims—both in color and design. Manastir kilims were traditionally woven by Muslim communities who migrated from the Balkans. Influenced by a region where diverse peoples lived and Eastern and Western cultures merged, these kilims carry a distinct character in both pattern and color. Their style is more closely aligned with kilims from European Turkey, such as those from Sharkoy (Şarköy). This piece reflects that heritage in many ways: its finely woven structure using tightly spun, thin yarn; its striking color combination of deep blue, bright red, and white; and its detailed craftsmanship. Yet, it also stands out with a bold and simple design full of originality—expressive, vibrant, and unique. The strong contrast and striking motifs are balanced by subtle slits between colors and the soft, faded hues created over time. These elements bring harmony and a gentle, lived-in feel, making it an easy and stylish addition to modern interiors. This Central Anatolian Old Kilim is a beautiful piece steeped in history and culture, adding a special character to your interior space.
