Carved Reclining Woman on Chaise Carved by Fred Alten

About

Fred K. Alten (1872 - 1945) from Wyandote Michigan was known for his carvings of folk art animals in circus wagons. This is the only figural piece of his that I have seen. It has the original paint and an old label on the bottom. see Mish. Folk Art, Mich. State, Lansing, 1976, Mus. of Am Folk Art, 1977
