About the Item

This work is the result of an independent research created by Pietre Trovanti - in collaboration with Carlo Antonelli, architect and Marta Palmieri, artist – in order to give value to sludge generated from natural stone manufacturing processes. Sludge is timeless, evokes an ancestral power and the handcrafted pieces created by the artist’ sensitive approach Marta Palmieri embodies this delicate force – the untamed matter is domesticated through a sculptural approach balanced with functionality. Through material and shape, the observer may experience two levels of expressiveness where an archetypal and futuristic dimensions are fused together. In their similarity each piece is uniquely different from all the others. Fluid mixture poured into an hand-crafted mold. The flat surface of the object is finished by using thin sand and colors obtained from metal oxides.

    Located in Milano, IT
n the heart of your sacred space, there resides a timeless masterpiece—a magnificent wooden Buddha sculpture that whispers secrets of the ages. Crafted with utmost devotion, this ethereal creation is believed to have its roots in the mystic lands of Burma, dating back to the 19th or perhaps even the early 20th century. As you gaze upon it, you'll find yourself transported through the corridors of history. This remarkable Buddha, a harmonious blend of two distinct eras, is a testament to the enduring spirit of artistry. Its features evoke echoes of a bygone era, the Pagan period, a time when devotion was expressed through the chisel and the keen eye of a master sculptor. The small, delicate mouth seems to whisper ancient wisdom, while the wide forehead exudes an aura of profound contemplation. The narrow waist and the gently rounded shoulders and chest reveal the artistry's meticulous attention to detail, capturing the essence of a bygone Burmese sculptural style. Seated in the full lotus position, the Buddha exudes an aura of tranquility that permeates every inch of your room. His right hand gracefully rests upon his knee, cradling a precious myrobalan fruit...

Antique wooden carved black forest game plaque with fox. An antique wooden hunting game plaque with impressive carving of a fox and hunting accessoires. Black Forest, executed ca. 1900. Very good condition. This plaque is a splendid addition to every rustic wall decoration. The tradition of wood carving in Brienz dates back to mid of the 19th century. People in the region were looking for new employment opportunities. They used their skills from traditional crafts, carving everyday objects and sculptures, and created a new business. Many woodcarvers where trained in the 'School of Wood Carving, Brienz' which was established in 1884. Around 1900 the woodcarving industry counted ca. 2000 woodcarvers. Brienz woodcarvings were presented on several worlds fairs with great success. With the Gran Tour Tourism wealthy people from all over the word visited the area and took their woodcarving souvenirs home. Today some companies, like 'Huggler Holzbildhauerei' still exist and build traditional sculptures. • Makonde Mask Helmet, Africa, Early 20th Century
    By Studio Art Deco
    Located in Saint-Amans-des-Cots, FR
Makonde helmet mask , Tanzania, Africa, early 20th century. Woman's face with a lip plug. The young woman represented wears earrings. Her hairstyle shows three large braids which are sculpted by hand. Carved wood. Width : 11.4"(29cm), Depth : 12.8"(32.5cm), Height: 8.3" (21cm). A shock made during the ceremonies above the right ear caused a crack. Remains of black patina. See photos. The mask is in good age and used condition. Early 20th century. Delivered without seat. Makonda tribes live in southern Tanzania and northern Mozambique. The most famous Makonde masks are helmet masks, called Lipico, which are used to mark a boy's initiation into adulthood. They also used masks with female faces such as this one. Brought from Africa to France in the 1920s, this helmet mask shows traces of use. It has been worn which places it at the beginning of the 20th century at least. The pigments darkening the skin (not the hairstyle) have faded or gone. Some small gaps on some protruding parts. A shock to the top of the skull, apparently due to a pointed weapon, generated star-shaped cracks. This impact is not running...
