Irving Berg Signed Mid Century Modernist Monumental Wooden Carved Totem Pole

About the Item

A mid century modernist wooden carved totem pole titled “Snowden” by Irving Berg. Identified on tag via the verso. A monumental totem with unique hand carved details that are brightly painted. From a private collection. Dimensions: 84”h x 5”w x 6”d. In good vintage condition. Irving Berg (1921-2009) studied at Cranbrook and in the 1960’s he moved to Cass Tech also as the Head of the Art Department. His sculptures are in many private and public collections including the Detroit Institute of Arts, Wayne State University, and Camp Tamarack where the Irving Berg Sculpture Garden was erected over a period of 21 years. He was an active supporter of many organizations here and in Israel including the Jewish War Veterans and B’nai B’rith.
