Tanzania Circa 1900 Coiled and woven basketry, natural fibers and dye 8 x 6 1/2 inches (21 x 16.5 cm) Provenance: ex private collection UK This very rare basket combines figurative with abstract patterning, and is possibly related to "Hare Spirit" masks from the Makonde in in Tanzania/Mozambique border region
