19thc Original Painted Running Horse Weather Vane
About the Item
Weather-vane, Running Horse, Ethan Allen Flattened Full Body, Old Honest White Paint
Late 19th Century
Molded copper with cast iron head, sheet copper mane, full bodied tail, old dry white paint over verdigris with vestiges of gilt.
No bullet holes or repairs to body.
There is a trivial shallow crease between hoof and hock when horse is looking right.
Ancient buildup of solder where rear hood attaches bar of which the color suggests that it may have been strengthened during it early working life. There is a very minor dimple with no creases below right flank that doesn’t distract or compromise the integrity.
