A 1970s Bumling Pendant By Anders Pearson For Atelje Lyktan Of Sweden

About the Item

A white Bumling pendant 40 cm in pressed aluminum designed by Anders Pehrson for Atelja Lyktan in 1968. In great age related condition. The lamp has been dismantled and cleaned. Fitted with a new E27 bulb holder and new wiring with white twisted cloth flex. It has also been grounded. Original on/off switch on top of the shade on the hanger. The white plastic defuser is also in great condition and has been washed. Included is also a vintage brass ceiling hanger for the Bumling. Classic Scandinavian design by one of Sweden's most famous designers. Anders Pehrson was born in Gothenburg in 1912 and after his engineering degree he began to work as a design manager at Philips in 1952. He was a skilled designer and a PR man beyond the ordinary. When he bought atelié Lyktan in 1964, it was crucial for the company's future. With cornerstones such as form, function, color and family, he came to create countless design classics that would put ateljé Lyktan on the world map. He also decided to focus on mass production of the best-selling lamps, which gave atelié Lyktan a more large-scale and international orientation. A few years later, he also came to design one of Sweden's greatest lighting successes of all time: Bumlingen. It was launched at the lighting fair in Gothenburg in 1968 and was an immediate success both in Sweden and abroad. The secret was the variety; the many different designs and varying colors. Anders' success was the idea around the combination of colour, form, function and family. The different colours, the varying sizes and the large number of members of the Bumling family helped ensure that consumers did not tire of the concept.

A Mid Century 18 Arm Tulip Pendant Chandelier By Fog and Mørup Of Denmark
By Fog & Mørup
Located in Søborg, DK
A very elegant and classic 18 arm tulip pendant chandelier by Fog and Mørup of Denmark Hand blown white opaline glass shades. E14 bulb holders A lovely age related wear and patina to the surfaces. The hand blown glass shades are in great condition with no cracks. Rewired and grounded. Glass shades will be removed for shipping. Responsible worldwide shipping available. The company was founded on 1 June 1904 by ironmonger Ansgar Fog (1880-1930) as a trading company in Aarhus. The following year, wholesaler Erik Mørup (1879-1972) was admitted as a partner. In 1906 it moved to Copenhagen. In 1915, the company was expanded with a factory for lamps and chandeliers, and in 1948 it was transformed into a limited company. At the same time, Mørup became chairman of the board and Alfred Emanuel Gillesberg (1895-1959) managing director. In 1956, Fog & Mørup moved to a new factory at Sydmarken 46 in Søborg designed by Preben Hansen. Fog & Mørup is probably best known for the Kongelyslampen, which got its name when Fog & Mørup presented the lamp to King Christian X on his 25th anniversary in 1937. The table lamp was made of bronzed brass and cost DKK 35.50. Fog & Mørup had great success with the sale of this model. Fog & Mørup's heyday was the 1960s and 1970s, when Jo Hammerborg and other designers created a large number of both original and salable models of lamps. In 1978, Fog & Mørup was acquired by competitor LYFA. Fog & Mørup's production was moved from Sydmarken in Søborg to LYFA in Måløv for better utilization of the production capacity. In 1988, LYFA took over the lighting company ABO in Assentoft near Randers, which was particularly known for magnetic ball lamps produced in the 1970s. Only one year later, in 1989, LYFA was taken over by the listed company Lyskær Belysning A/S. The company's new name became Lyskær-Lyfa A/S in October 1989, but already in 1991 the company was bought by Horn Belysning...
