19th Century Antique Rock Crystal Chandelier
About the Item
A Baroque style chandelier with 12 candleholders. The frame is forged of iron that is blackened and gilt. The chandelier is pear-shaped and has rockcrystas in the shape of leafs and fruits. Some of the pendants are made of smoky quartz.
The chandelier has a great design and the pendants make it very much alive.
In the 17th c it became fashionable to have rock crystals in chandeliers. This fashion became popular again in the 19th c.
Rock crystals were more expensive than glass pendants and this type of chandelier was, and am, the most exclusive you could acquire at the time.
