19th Century French Louis XVI Style Neoclassical Bronze Flambeau Chandelier

About the Item

The Neoclassical style often has an opulent look that is balanced with clean shapes and classical details. It pays homage to the Greek and Roman culture and was a defining style of the French during the 19th Century. The top urn motif is a visual shorthand for the elegance and austere beauty of the ancients. It has three delicate acanthus arms stemming from a single torch-like pendant body topped with ram heads around the center. These rams have been meticulously cast, etched, and engraved with realistic details like fur, horns, and eyes. Rams hold lots of symbolism such as power, strength, and nobility, and were also prominent animals in Greek and Roman culture. The intricate metalwork, like the beaded trim and leaf-like ornaments, adds texture to this visually stunning masterpiece. This piece is exemplary artwork of Neoclassicism and has the power to make any room look majestic and classic. Place this chandelier in a bathroom, entryway, or even walk-in closet to appreciate its beauty. This chandelier is rewired to meet US electrical standards. It takes three candelabra-size bulbs, incandescent or LED. Each light bulb can use up to a maximum of 60 watts. This fixture requires a canopy and chain which is not included. H= 20 in. (without canopy and chain) W=15 in. D= 15 in. 10 lbs.
