19th Century French Medieval Painted Iron Four-Light Chandelier with Old Script

About the Item

Decorate a den or study with this interesting antique chandelier. Crafted in France circa 1880, the medieval-style fixture is built of wrought iron and adorns a painted with an aged, rustic patina. The design is reminiscent of early European Gothic or Renaissance lighting fixtures, featuring a band of metal with hand-painted lettering, suspended by four heavy iron chains. The oblong frame has four lights newly wired with candle-style lights mounted on simple metal plates, enhancing its old-world charm. The metal spikes and curled hooks add to the medieval aesthetic. The inscription appears to be in an old script, likely Latin or an archaic European language. The text includes names, possibly referencing historical figures, patrons, or religious dedications. The chandelier is excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich hand painted finish in the yellow mustard and pale green verdigris palette. 26"W x 17"D x 28"H
