Beautiful Art Deco White & Black Veins Alabaster Pendant Light Fixture with Rope & Matching Canopy (circa 1910–1920).
This rare design and fairly large chandelier from the heydays of the European Art Deco era will never fail to impress you (or anyone visiting) and it is certain to light up both your days and evenings. Its remarkable, circular shade is all hand carved out of one solid rock of alabaster. For this pendant they clearly picked a beautiful rock (formed by Mother Nature over millions of years, with some unique veins and patches and provide a dramatic accent reminiscent of powerful lightning strokes) and they clearly polished the surface to perfection, making it even more handsome.
The result is a pendant of rare refinement. Its wide, gently curved bowl form tapers gracefully towards the centre, revealing the natural veining and cloudy patterns that have formed within this mineral stone over millennia. The contrast between the soft white alabaster and the thunderstroke dark veins gives this light its unmistakable character and depth.
Both the substantial shade and the original matching alabaster canopy remain in good condition. Their smooth, hand-polished surfaces radiate a quiet sophistication that only genuine antique alabaster can possess.
The new twisted rope suspension, beautifully hand-knotted and period-appropriate, complements the purity of the alabaster and adds a subtle warmth and tactile charm.
