About the Item

One of a kind, handcrafted light fixture with a deeper meaning. This early 20th century pendant has everything that we look for in the antiques that we like to offer. It is artistic, it is quality made, it's got style, it's got meaning, it looks beautiful, it (probably) is unique and it is in very good condition. The timeless shape of the glass shade is truly beautiful and the hand painted patterns accentuate and elevate the design even more. This hexagonal pendant comes with 3 sides with a growing tulip and 3 sides with geometrical motifs. With our business less than a couple of miles away from the worldfamous 'keukenhof' (flower park) we could not be more thrilled to find an Arts & Crafts pendant with probably the most famous of Dutch bulb flowers in it. In this pendant the artist shows us (from the bottom upwards) the different stages of a growing tulip. The hand painted motifs are 'brandgeschilderd'. This means that they were burned into the glass in the kiln and at a very high temperature. This difficult and costly technique guarantees a much longer lifespan of the hand-painted motifs. In the Arts and Crafts era a growing flower decor would also have stood for the circle of life & rebirth. This truly stylish antique pendant will light up both your days AND evenings and the warm light it radiates will bring warmth and class wherever you may decide to hang her.
