Baltic 18th Century Neoclassical Style Ormolu, Crystal and Chandelier

About the Item

A stunning Baltic 18th century neo-classical st. ormolu, crystal and cobalt blue glass six arm, fourteen light chandelier. The chandelier is centered by a fine bottom ormolu foliate finial below the beautiful original cobalt blue glass with a unique lightly curved and elegant fluted design. A wrap around ormolu band follows the perimeter of the chandelier and is suspended by four chains. The central tier displays finely chased rosettes and lion heads below the six arms. The tier displays elegant prism shaped cut crystals and houses six interior bulbs which shine inwards, illuminating the wonderfully shaped scrolled ormolu cage. The cage tapers upwards and is adorned with a beautiful array of cut crystals centering a superb hanging hand blown glass ball. The top crown displays impressive and most decorative ormolu sprays decorated with crystals above an exceptional circular fitted cobalt blue glass tier illuminated by two light bulbs.
