Brass Oriental Eight-Arm Chandelier
About the Item
An antique Orientalist chandelier, the central Islamic brass bowl is finely
hand-engraved with scenes and forms the main focus of this late 19th century French chandelier which takes up the theme and adds the fretwork brass panels and various repeating borders details. The eight lights are well-reflected by the gleaming bowl.
This seems to us to have come from an Orientalist style smoking room. There was a fashion for these at the end of the 19th century.
