About the Item

Ceiling lamp model 6022 designed by Gunnar Asplund for Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik, Sweden, 1950/60s Green lacquered metal suspension with shade in matt opal glass. The model was originally created for Gunnar Asplund's music room at the Workshop's exhibition held at Liljevalchs Konsthall in autumn 1920. It became part of Böhlmark's collection in 1922 and remained so until Ateljé Lyktan took over production in 1965. The lamp features a green lacquered metal suspension, with three delicate chains descending to support the gently curved matt opal glass shade. The design is simple yet refined, perfectly balancing functionality with an artistic, decorative quality. Gunnar Asplund (1885–1940) was a pioneering Swedish architect and designer, widely regarded as one of the key figures in Nordic Classicism and the transition to Functionalism in Scandinavian architecture. His work combined classical influences with modernist principles, leaving a profound and lasting impact on Swedish design and architecture. Pieces like the Ceiling Lamp Model 6022 demonstrate his ability to merge decorative flourishes with modernist simplicity, reflecting his attention to detail and functional elegance.
