About the Item
Ceiling pendant lamp designed by Harald Notini. produced in Sweden by Böhlmarks lampfabrik during the 1950s. Six hanging pendants attached to a six armed ceiling mount made from brass. Original glasses in white opaline. Very good vintage condition with light age related wear and patina. One glass with small impurity (darker spot) in the glass from production.
Arvid Böhlmark's lamp factory, a distinguished Swedish importer and manufacturer of lighting fixtures, stood as a pillar of the industry from 1872 to 1977. Located at Högbergsgatan 19–25 in Stockholm, the company's headquarters boasted expansive factory properties. Collaborating with renowned glass manufacturer Pukeberg's glass factory in Nybro, Böhlmark's lamp factory combined craftsmanship and innovation to produce exceptional lighting solutions. Additionally, the company maintained a shop at Norrmalmstorg 4 in Stockholm, providing a dedicated space for customers to experience their exquisite creations.
Harald Elof Notini, a luminary in Swedish design, was born on December 26, 1879, and his artistic journey began in his hometown of Stockholm. Notini's diverse talents encompassed interior architecture, design, and sculpture. His innovative prowess was exemplified by his three patents in the field of lighting technology.
Son of Axel Notini and Augusta Katarina Konstantia Bourdin, Notini's passion for design was nurtured from an early age. He studied at the Higher Art and Industrial School, where he honed his skills at the turn of the 20th century. Seeking further inspiration and knowledge, he continued his studies in Germany and France, immersing himself in the artistic traditions of these influential European countries.
After completing his education, Notini's talent led him to work as a designer for Arvid Böhlmark's lamp factory. His collaboration with this renowned establishments allowed him to contribute his unique perspective and creative vision to their projects. Notini's designs seamlessly blended form and function, reflecting his meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
Notini's artistic achievements were showcased in numerous arts and crafts exhibitions held in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, and even Paris. Notably, Notini's work for Apoteket Stenbocken included the creation of a wide stucco molding adorned with intricately sculpted foliage and ibex heads.
