This piece is handcrafted by the artist in the United States with synthetic hair, wire, chain, and functional light elements. This piece measures 28”h x 18”w x 18”d and is ready to be installed.
In this collection, Sarah Detweiler explores themes of nostalgia and sentimentality by revisiting her own childhood and adolescent memories. Watching her own children experience childhood in a global pandemic, Detweiler has found catharsis and joy in recalling her own experiences as a child of the 80s and a teen of the 90s, during what seemed like a simpler time. Likewise, the Memory Palace collection offers a reprieve from the strange and complex reality of contemporary life, for adults and children alike, inviting viewers to fall “down the rabbit hole” into a warped reimagination of vignettes from Detweiler’s youth.
