Empire Style Patinated and Gilt Bronze Light Fixture

About the Item

Designed as a shallow gadrooned bowl with six gilded bronze arms currently not wired and used as a candle fixture but can easily be wired for an additional charge if the customer desires. The arms exhibit some features that are similar to designs made just before the rise of Napoleon and the true empire style and are cast with neoclassical floral elements but in a bold and dramatic stylish holdover from the last days of the bourbon reigns and the Louis the XVI era. These arms and candle cups are burnished gilded and retain much of the original finish while the bowl and chains along with the canopy are in patinated bronze. Made around the turn of the century to circa 1910 this can be wired but has been used for a long time with candles.
