  • Gunnar Asplund GA7 Pendant Lamp Mouthblown Opaque Glass, Designed in 1930´s
    By Erik Gunnar Asplund
    Located in Värnamo, SE
GA7 is a classical globe luminaire and consists of a mouthblown, three layered opaque glass. Originally designed to enlighten the corridors of the basement at the Woodland Cemetary. The frosted glass in collaboration with the centered light source creates a uniform, general and diffuse light, but with an opening in the glass to also create a direct lightdistribution. GA7 is manufactured as a fixed luminaire, but can also be hanged from cable. Details in either brass or coated. Erik Gunnar Asplund. Erik Gunnar Asplund (22 September 1885 – 20 October 1940) was a Swedish architect, mostly known as a key representative of Nordic Classicism of the 1920s, and during the last decade of his life as a major proponent of the modernist style which made its breakthrough in Sweden at the Stockholm International Exhibition (1930). Among Asplund's most important works is the Stockholm Public Library, constructed between 1924 and 1928, which stands as the prototypical example of the Nordic Classicism and so-called Swedish Grace movement. It was particularly influential on the proposal submitted for the competition for the design of the Viipuri Library in 1927 by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, who regarded Asplund as his mentor. Another important work is the extension of the Gothenburg Courthouse Extension building which Asplund started on 1913 and finished 1937 - it shows his transformation from neo-classical to functionalist architect, a transformation in parallel with other European modernists like Erich Mendelsohn. Asplund collaborated with architect Sigurd Lewerentz...

GA8 has a distinct appearance due to the concentric rings and consists of a mouthblown, three layered opaque glass. At the same time the closed glass, together with a frosted outer surface and centered lightsource, gives a playful and changing appearance from the different levels of glass. The high quality of the glass ensures that a soft and diffuse light is created. GA8 is manufactured with visible parts in chromed appearance. Erik Gunnar Asplund. • Gunnar Asplund GA2 Pendant Lamp Mouthblown Opaque Glass, Designed in 1930´s
    By Erik Gunnar Asplund
    Located in Värnamo, SE
GA2 is a classical globe pendant, save for the distinctive neck. The fitting consists of a mouthblown, three layered opaque glass. The quality of the glass in collaboration with the centered light source creates a uniform, general and diffuse illumination, regardless of what light source is chosen. The timeless design, versatility and the diffused and symmetrical light ensures that GA2 illuminates surfaces in a comfortable way. In order not to change the unique and original light distribution created by the glass, GA1 will continue to be manufactured for omni-directional lightsources. Erik Gunnar Asplund.
