This particular Hans Kögl chandelier was originally brought to the US by a World War II American GI when returning from his deployment in Germany after the war and then hung in his home up until recently. This chandelier's finish is known as Bole Gilding, a technique that began about eight thousand years ago in Europe and Asia. This stunning 1970s American Lucite ribbon and brass chandelier comprises of U-shaped thick bands of cascading Lucite in different lengths that are suspended from a chrome frame with brass fixings. The large Lucite is illuminated by four bulbs at its centre, hung from a chain, which is attached to a ceiling rose. There is no maker's mark, however the chandelier is similar in style to those designed by Karl Springer or Charles Hollis Jones. There is a sticker inside the ceiling rose for Underwriters Laboratories Inc, a global safety science company headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois.
