Félix Agostini, rare original sconce in gilt resin made circa 1960 Representing a Dancer or Icarus, this original sculpture-sconce is one of Félix Agostini's rarest creations, as very few were made. Félix Agostini (1910-1980) is a famed Parisian designer of the 1960s and '70s. His collaborations with Alberto and Diego Giacometti influenced his styles, from the textures of his sculptural lamps to the skinny silhouettes he created. A tribute to the greek myth of Icarus, this wall lamp is one of his most sculptural realisations, reminiscent of the existentialist sculptures of Alberto Giacometti, Diego Giacometti and Germaine Richier (see the Men walking and other Figures by Alberto Giacometti, and also the Bat by Germaine Richier). This exceptional vintage piece can be both integrated in a modern and contemporary interior, and in a classic decoration. The shade is missing but will be remade by Felix Agostini's daughter herself. Very much appreciated by decorators and interior designers like Jacques Grange, Félix Agostini is one of the leader of french design in the XXth century, along with Jean Michel Frank, Line Vautrin, Jean Royère, François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne, Philippe Anthonioz, Philippe Hiquily, Elisabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti.
