Superb art deco chandelier by Hugue in silvered metal and frosted glass molded in protruding geometric shapes. All glass elements signed. Dimensions in cm ( H x D ) : 44.5 x 60 Very good condition. Oxidation and minimal chipping to glass usual of this type of item. Shipped disassembled. Léon Auguste Hugue (Paris, 1878 – Clichy-la-Garenne, 1970) began his career as a bronze fitter. In 1907, he established his own lighting bronze manufacturing business at 14 rue Pierre Levée. In 1913, he created a new limited partnership, "L. Hugue, fabrique de bronzes et d’appareils d’éclairage," at number 10 on the same street. The business grew, and around 1925, he set up a factory at 68 rue des Rondeaux, where he worked with the help of his son Maurice Léon, also a bronze fitter (see images 13 and 16). At the 1927 French Exhibition in Madrid, he received the Gold Medal diploma alongside Francis Hubens. Strangely, in 1932, Léon Hugue...
