French 19th Century Iron Hanging Lantern with Groups of Fleur De Lis at Top

About the Item

This large elaborate hexagonal wrought iron hanging lantern features fantastic scroll work and dates back to the 19th Century. The French Antique piece plays host to groups of three Fleur de Lis at top, pierced wrought iron, and scroll work at top and bottom. The piece features three internal lights, and is beautifully well balanced. Each piece in our shop is professionally rewired and in working order. They have been rewired at our fourth generation antique store in The French Quarter of New Orleans. Each chandelier and lantern comes with a vintage canopy, three feet of chain, and ample wire, and each sconce comes with all materials needed to mount. Each piece is newly wired with UL approved wire and sockets and is fully operable. This piece is a collection of a fourth generation, family owned business in New Orleans called The French Antique Shop. The store was first opened by Marie and Marcel Granet in Paris when they married in 1927. A jewish family, they came to the United States before the outbreak of the Second World War, leaving on the last boat out of Paris' port, Le Havre. When they reached New Orleans, they fell in love with the Vieux Carre as it reminded them of home. Their first shop here in New Orleans was located on Chartres Street in the French Quarter and was stocked originally with pieces they had brought with them from Paris. They moved to Royal Street and settled in their present expanded location at 225 Royal Street in 1947. Today, the shop is run by the third and fourth generation, Marc, and his two sons Michael and Brian. By purchasing from our shop, you're supporting a family run business which focuses on artisan made, high quality craft with an emphasis on quality. Thank you for helping us continue a dream started four generations ago!

19th C French Ormolu Mtd. Multi-Arm Baccarat Crystal Chandelier, w/ Fleur de Lis
By Baccarat
Located in New York, NY
A Magnificent and Quite Large 19th Century French Ormolu Mounted Multi-Arm Baccarat Crystal Chandelier, with Fleur de Lis Crystal Prisms. The ormolu body is cast of the highest quality of mercury gilt bronze. The arms are spectacular and split up between multiple tiers. The central stem is made up of a thick ormolu pole which is decorated with Baccarat crystal hand-diamond cut stepped sections. Attached to the stem are the numerous ormolu arms which terminated to hand-chased and hand-chiseled ormolu bobeche's; inside each bobeche is a hand-diamond cut crystal candle holder which is similar to a lily flower. These crystals are each hand-diamond cut with a crystal prismic pattern. Hanging off each arm is an array of hand-diamond cut crystal prisms, each with a variable crystal style form and each hand-beveled. At the top of each prism is a cut-crystal flower, which beautifully completes the gorgeous arms. In the center of each bi-armed section is a small ormolu step which holds a cut-crystal beveled sphere and incredible and rare, cut-crystal, beveled Fleur de Lis. This symbol is highly important and symbolic to the Royal family of France for hundreds of years. Chandeliers of this size, quality, condition, and inclusive of Fleur de Lis are highly prized and rarely found in the market as Fleur de Lis based items were usually produced with noble reason.
