French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Alabaster and Ormolu Chandelier
About the Item
A stunning French 19th century Louis XVI st. alabaster and ormolu chandelier. The chandelier is centered by a richly chased acorn finial below the impressive alabaster bowl with a wonderfully sculpted reeded design. The bowl displays striking finely detailed pierced ormolu plaques with most decorative geometric and foliate designs fitted within a square band. The bowl also displays four ormolu block reserves with fine rosettes and rings from where four elegant link chains lead upwards to the canopy tied at acorn finials. The canopy displays a lovely inverted foliate finial and impressive richly chased acanthus leaf spray in a superb satin and burnished finish. The bowl houses eight interior light bulbs offering a beautiful warm glow through the alabaster.
