French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu and Frosted Glass Chandelier
About the Item
A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and frosted glass chandelier. The four arm five light chandelier is centered by a fine bottom acorn and reeded finial below the beautiful frosted glass dome which houses one light bulb giving off a warm glow. At the center is a most decorative wrap around interlocking ormolu band with palmettes and handsome richly chased rams heads from where each fluted elegantly scrolled arm extends, adorned with a large acanthus leaf. Charming swaging beaded chains extend around the body and tied at finely detailed rosettes and displaying lovely hanging tassels. Four unique foliate chains and the fluted central support lead upward to the striking pierced top crown decorated with beautiful leaves and palmettes.
