French Art Deco Chandelier Antique Nickel Modernist Rare Light Fixture
About the Item
French Art Deco Chandelier Antique Nickel Modernist rare chandelier featuring a Marabou stork motif. Art Deco design is known for its geometric shapes, and luxurious materials, and this light has a particular modernist and cubist style. There are 4 identical marabou storks surrounding the fixtures and a very original stepped style as seen in the custom hanging assembly and the extended arms, each supporting two glass fixtures.
A Marabou stork is a large bird native to parts of Africa. In Art Deco design, exotic motifs like this were often incorporated to add a touch of glamour and artistic interpretation. Most decorative pieces either glass, ceramic, or lighting with animal images are highly valued.
This unique piece is not something I’ve seen before, purchased in the Netherlands but most likely originated in France.
