French Art Nouveau Green, Blue and White Glass and Brass Pendant Light, 1920s
About the Item
This adorable French Art Nouveau period pendant chandelier features a mottled “Pâte de Verre” art glass bowl in green, blue, and white color with orange and pink accents, attributed to Jean Noverdy, hung at an ornate brass canopy. The pendant light fixture has three chains attached to the glass bowl with brackets in the shape of flowers; the canopy is adorned with leaf motifs.
One new socket for an E27 (E26) size light bulb.
This beautiful pendant chandelier is a good choice for lower ceilings.
Dimensions: diameter: 35 cm / 13.78 in, height: circa 41 cm / 16.14 in.
The light fixture is in complete working order, but as with all vintage or antique lighting, we would always suggest it is installed by a qualified electrician.
The production of Pâte de Verre is a slow process that requires a lot of manual skill to avoid bubbles, cloudiness, and cracks in the cooling process. The technique allows for accurate shapes and accurate color gradations in the workpiece, unlike any other glass processing technique.
The technique was already known in ancient Rome and Egypt. Especially in the Art Nouveau period, and later in the Art Deco era, she found artistic use again in works by French glass artists such as Gabriel Argy-Rousseau, Henry Cros, Albert Dammouse, François Décorchemont, Amalric Walter, Émile Gallé, and George Despret. The Crystal Daum, a French manufacturer of commercial glassware, produced numerous works from Pâte de Verre.

- French Art Nouveau Pendant Light by Muller Frères Luneville, 1920sBy Muller Fres LunevilleLocated in Barntrup, DEFrench Art Nouveau bronze and Pâte de Verre glass pendant light fixture by Muller Frères Luneville from circa the 1920s. This delightful French Art Nouveau period pendant light features a white color 'Pâte de Verre' glass bowl with purple, brown, and slight blue tones. Signed "Muller Fres Luneville", this beautiful and deep pendant light is suspended from a beautifully shaped bronze mount. One new socket for E27 (E26) size bulb. Dimensions: Diameter 36 cm / 14.17 in, height 58 cm / 22.83 in. In good condition with slight signs of aging and use. The light fixture is in complete working order, but as with all vintage or antique lighting, we would always suggest it is tested and fitted by a qualified electrician. The beautiful multicolored glass bowl was made in the “Pâte de Verre” technique, used in the production of multicolored glass: a cold-formed paste of glass powder and dyes is filled in a refractory mold and then fired in a muffle furnace, wherein the glass melts into the desired shape. To achieve polychrome color effects, the process is repeated with other colors. Especially in the Art Nouveau period, and later in the Art Deco era, she found artistic use again in works by French glass artists such as Gabriel Argy-Rousseau, Henry Cros, Albert Dammouse...Category
