About the Item

19th Century, French Régence Style Gilt Bronze Chandelier Dimensions: Diameter 95 cm x H 136 cm. Chandelier H 92 cm, Chain H 30 cm, Ceiling cup H 14 cm This eight-light chandelier in finely chiseled and gilt bronze was made in France, in the Régence style, in the second half of the 19th century. Highly elaborate due to the richness of its bronze decorations, it features a central structure adorned with phytomorphic and floral motifs, female heads representing the goddess Ceres, volutes, and acanthus leaves. The curved and undulating candle arms, embellished with botanical elements and geometric patterns, end in gadrooned circular drip pans with leaf decorations, topped with finely chiseled hexagonal candle holders. The chandelier rises upward with richly decorated elements, including four herm figures in high relief on curved arms, each with a child’s head seemingly peeking out to observe the surroundings from above. Full of elegant and refined details, this chandelier is highly decorative and scenographic, suitable for a wide variety of interiors. In the images, the chandelier is shown without its chain and ceiling cup, which are included and complete the piece. The chandelier is already pre-wired for electricity, though the lamp holders are missing.
