Hourglass shaped modernist pendant lamp attributed to ASEA, Sweden, 1950s

About the Item

Swedish mid century pendant lamp attributed to the Swedish electric company ASEA, 1950s. Sculptural hourglass shape made from lacquered aluminum with ring shaped brass detail holding the two cones together. Three lamp holders, two E14 upwards and one E27 downwards. ASEA, the Swedish electrical company, was established as early as 1883, specializing in the production of electrical lights and generators. By the late 1940s, ASEA had acquired several rival companies, solidifying its position as one of Sweden's premier manufacturers of light fixtures. ASEA's Stockholm drawing office was responsible for the development of numerous modernistic lamps, designed for both public spaces and domestic applications. The company collaborated with several renowned designers, including Hans Bergström and Uno Kristiansson, over the years.
