About the Item

Early 20th century Italian iron two-tier ten-light chandelier, in good condition, restored and rewired. Of Italian origin, handcrafted, this is a unique work of art coming from a Milanese private palazzo. Unusual structure with ten curved scrolling arms on two tiers, decorated with iron spiral patterns and lapislazzuli and ivory color painted metal sheet balls. A long shaped iron stem ending in the lower part with a flower bulb containing an ostrich eggshell. The final blue wooden element has been repainted. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago requires a governative license for export called Belle Arti. The shipping may require additional 3-4 handling weeks to require and get the license according to the final destination of the artwork. Measure: Height 107 cm without chain Diameter: 65 cm.

Rare ceramic and wrought iron chandelier by Antoine Dubois,Belgium. Diameter 90 cm - height fixture 76 cm - total height 96 cm - weight 10 kg. 13 generations of this family have been around since the 1960s actively engaged in: turning, pouring, drying, baking, glazing and painting all kinds of earthenware. At the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century the names of François and his son Antoine Dubois. Father François went to work in 1882 as a young porcelain painter in the well-known plateel factory from # Wasmuël. Ten years later he founded this region with his son and teacher-artist Emile Lombart, the faience series of # Saint-Ghislain. In 1909 father and son move to #Anderlecht (#Brussels) where they stay until 1917 remained active and especially beautiful hand painted earthenware tile pictures produced. The death of Mrs. Dubois in 1917 and a devastating event fire in 1919 ... the family decided to return to Mons.
