Pablo Picasso declared one of J.A. Coderch's bentwood designs to be "the most wonderful pendant lamp of the world." This remarkably sculptural and organic piece existed for nearly half a century as a forgotten pencil sketch designed by the renowned architect. It was recently rediscovered and lovingly brought to life by Tunds. Fabricated with natural Oregon pinewood (FSC) veneer specially treated to gain flexibility and semi-gloss black anodized aluminum rings to the exacting craftsmanship of Tunds. This newly produced authorized re-edition embraces all the technical, functional, material and aesthetic requirements laid down by the master architect, including those which could not be resolved in his time due to technical limitations.

José Antonio Coderch (1913-1984) is considered one of the most valued architects in Postwar Spain. Often described as the architect of modernity, his works are still seen as vivid examples of contemporary architecture and his legacy includes hundreds of listed buildings all over Spain. Coderch gained significant recognition throughout his career, winning the architecture FAD awards in 1960 and 1972. He also became a member of Team X establishing friendships with other renowned international architects. His design creations such as the Disa lamp or the Polo chimney are also worth mentioning as well as his contributions as a photographer.
Tunds is the firm founded by Rafael Salvador, great-nephew of the J.A. Coderich. They are the exclusive manufacturer of the iconic DISA lamp sketched in pencil and recovered from the archives of the brilliant architect. TUNDS rediscovers Coderch’s lighting work following the explicit instructions of the master and with the classic, contemporary and honest presence which permeates each of Coderch’s designs.
Accommodates 2x medium base e27 LED bulbs with maximum 11Watt Equivalent (bulbs not included). Wired for EU electrical, some modification may be necessary for US electrical. Not UL listed, but UL listing possible from an authorized 3rd party vendor for an additional fee. Please contact us to facilitate.
Please note that only one representative example of each item is shown in the images. Finish varies from item to item due to the handmade nature of their fabrication. Ships disassembled.
