About the Item
A Finnish design flush mount model ES 1900 manufactured by Itsu in Finland in the 1950s. Vintage ceiling lamps like this one were made by a few different companies in 1950s in Finland. Valinte, Itsu, Taito, Idman and Orno were some of the leading lighting manufacturers in mid-century Finland. This lamp is a prime example of Finnish mid century design, simple, functional, especially with low ceilings, and elegant. As the lamp is in brass and white fabric, it's easy to incorporate it with different interiors. The lamp is stamped by the manufacturer "Itsu".
The item is in good condition, and the brass parts have a nice patina. The upholstery for the shade was redone.
Itsu was one of the leading light manufacturing companies and a daughter company of Idman. Along with companies like Taito Oy, Idman and Orno they defined what Finnish design lamps would become. It made high quality lamps and produced lamps for major projects, including some of Alvar Aalto's projects like the Aalto University.
