About the Item
I tried to count just how many individual Venetian hand-blown glass grapes it took to make this amazing chandelier.... The number is about 3000 and there are no missing parts. No two grapes are the same. Each grape is unique so all vary in size shape and color. The colors subtle and tasteful ranging from clear, yellow, amber, brown, different greens to blue and black. Also each of the 3000 glass parts are hand wired to a formed frame that give the lamp its shape. In addition here are 4 outer bronze gargoyles that each hold a large cluster of glass grapes. The lamp is also ringed with and draped with bronze decorative details. This type of delicate and complex lamp rarely survived and very few were made because of the labor involved. We did a bit of research and found no other lamp on this large scale or this early. I'm guessing it dates to the 1920s. Its 32 inches tall with a 27 inch diameter and totally covered with glass. It takes 12 candelabra bulbs to illuminate this fixture and we rewired every one.
