Late 19th Brass Gas Electric Pendant w/ Pale Pink Acid Etched Glass Bowl

About the Item

An exceptional late 19th century brass gas/electric pendant bowl. The pale ping acid etched glass bowl is original to the fixture. The etching of festoons with bows and bell flowers. Along the top parameter of the glass is a band of half circles bordering tiny, encircled quatrefoil like shapes. The rimed glass bowl slips onto a heavy cast brass band featuring shell plumes and cartouches. Each of the decorative arms are joined by major cartouches with acanthus leaf details. The four arms, one of which had the gas line and one of which had the electrical wire way are intricately detailed with double bars captured by small acanthus leaf husk shaped joints terminating into a cast decorative body imitating open decorative hooks. Originally, there would have been a decorative pipe containing the gas line and electrical wires leading into the ceiling. WE have modified it with a cast brass loop. 3 feet of antique brass finished chain and a vintage canopy. Please note that the glass has naturally occurring blemishes that have lost the subtle pink color. There are two fixtures available. One of the two glass bowls has a tiny ding in the glass that is smaller than a fingertip.
