About the Item
French Art Deco modernist chandelier by PETITOT (Paris), France, ca. 1930.
Re-Nickeled metal in combination with blue glass.
Elegant, tapered shape with stepped end, four quarter discs are inserted into the conical body and are each fixed on the inside with 2 small screws.
The glass is frosted and transparent, as is the overlying round, blue shade.
The lamp lives from its elegant yet expressive shape and blends in particularly well.
Illustrated in the Petitot's catalogue under Ref #15519, page 31.
The bronze maker Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878.
His son Henri took over in 1917. They had there own shop in Paris yet primarily were a wholesale selling their lamps to shops all over France, Europe and the States. Together with Hettier & Vincent they became the largest producer of French art deco lighting in the early 1930s. Petitot produced precious fixtures in high quality heavy bronze with shades from the best French glass manufacturers such as Sabino, Jean Gauthier, Muller Freres, Degue and Schneider...
