Mid-Century Dutch Minimalist Pendant Lamp attributed to Louis Kalff, 1950s

About the Item

Small pendant lamp in copper, black and white from Philips based on a design by Louis Kalff from the 1950s. A simple and symmetrical design with cylindrical bodies as the predominant shape. The contrast between white and matt black is striking. The real special feature, however, lies in the copper-colored reflector. It lies inside the lamp and emerges from the bottom as a fine edge to the outside. The light shines primarily and focuses downwards. The fine perforation in the upper area provides a light, accentuated room light. The lamp is in very good condition with signs of wear and patina. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
