About the Item
A stunning and Mid-Century Modern ceiling lamp model K1-88 by Maria Lindemann for Idman. This sleek lamp is a rare piece that we have never had before. The Idman catalogue has it marked as (not produced any more) at one point which might explain the rarity. The lamp is ultra modern with clean straight lines and a geometrical hexagon design that can be seen when observed from below. The lamp is made of painted metal and glass shades of opal and smokey gray tone. A beautiful combination of materials and colours. Really one of the nicest lamps we have acquired recently.
Maria Lindemann graduated from the design school "Taideteollisuuskeskuskoulu", now known as the Aalto University School of Arts, Design, and Architecture just when the second world ended. In 1953 Lindemann took part in a competition of lighting fixtures, announced by the Idman company, which resulted in a full-time job as an artistic designer. Idman became the leading light manufacturers in Finland that then acquired Taito just around that same time.
Lindeman’s designs varied from modern to classical designs. During the 1950s and 1960s, Lindeman became one of the voices in constructing Finnish modernism, and a participating member in the formulation of the Golden Age of Finnish design.

- Condition:Rewired: The electric wiring has been updated to current standards. Replacements made: The gray smokey lower shades and the white shades are of a later date. Refer to pictures please. Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp has a nice vintage look to it, and is quite modern.
