Mid-Century Modern Translucent Lucite & Polished Chrome Cut Out Chandelier

About the Item

This sophisticated Mid-Century Modern chandelier was realized in Italy, circa 1970. It features a rectangular body in lustrous polished chrome capped on each end by solid volumetric square blocks of translucent lucite. The bottom block is capped at its base with a spherical chrome finial. Four chrome arms extend at perpendicular angles from the body culminating in frosted torpedo bulbs that are surrounded with square panels of translucent lucite with circular cut outs in the center of each creating negative spaces for the bulbs. The chandelier attaches to the ceiling via a chain and square polished chrome canopy that reiterates the form of the lucite panels. With its graphic form and bold use of modern materials, this chandelier embodies the qualities that discerning collectors love about Mid Century Modern Italian design. Its monochromatic palate and clean modernist lines make this piece a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid century to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. The height can be adjusted to suit. The chandelier accommodates 4 bulbs offering up to 400 watts of light.
