Fontana Arte, Italian Midcentury, Glass Chandelier after Pietro Chiesa, 1940s

About the Item

Etched glass three-leaf chandelier after Pietro Chiesa, 1940s. The fixture features delicate pieces of milky hand blown glass elements tethered to a gilt brass structure, each of which are decorated with soft pink leaves motifs with gold accents. Pietro Chiesa (1892-1948) was an Italian designer who specialised in modernist and Art Deco designs. Chiesa was one of the founding members of FontanaArte which was established in 1932, and as its artistic director, he designed hundreds of items ranging from furniture to objets d’art. A member of the Swiss Ticino family of artists, Chiesa is best known for his glass furnishing pieces. Being such a legend during the Art Deco and early modernist era, as can be seen in this particular piece, many of Pietro Chiesa's object styles were adopted by artisans who created pieces out of respect to the architect himself. Original wiring present - no structural issues with minor cosmetic wear and patina. Please note : the "free shipping option" and/or "subsidised shipping option" if stated in the shipping quotes option of this listing, is exclusively available for full list price orders only.
